Weatherill Labor Government shamed on Adelaide United
Saturday 16 November, 2013
The Legislative Council this week passed a motion moved by Liberal MLC Terry Stephens condemning the Weatherill Labor Government for its mistreatment of the Adelaide United Football Club.
Mr Stephens welcomed the support from crossbenchers.
“Adelaide United has been left out in the cold by the Weatherill Labor Government,” said Mr Stephens.
“The Weatherill Labor Government is doing anything but supporting one of the city’s most successful sporting franchises – even refusing repeated phone calls from club management.
“The Weatherill Labor Government missed a great opportunity to promote our State to Asia during Champions League matches – it was snapped up by the Northern Territory Government instead.
“Adelaide United management are sick of the inaction and rent-seeking from the Weatherill Labor Government.
“A Marshall Liberal Government would be a proud supporter of the Adelaide United Football Club if elected to government in March next year.”
