Again, Kouts tries to avoid responsibility
Monday 4 July, 2011
Correctional Services Minister Tom Koutsantonis has again tried to avoid responsibility over violent criminal Drew Claude Griffiths’ multiple escapes from custody.
Mr Koutsantonis has passed the buck by imposing a fine of $50,000 on private security company G4S for Griffiths’ multiple escapes.
“Mr Koutsantonis fails to accept the buck stops with him as Minister, not G4S,” Mr Stephens said.
“In fact, Mr Koutsantonis is still yet to adequately explain how it is possible that a violent criminal was twice able to escape custody.
“The Minister’s continual blaming of others is not acceptable when the safety of South Australians is at risk from prisoners escaping on his watch.”
